The Nigerian Police Force said, it has arrested three suspected kidnappers, who allegedly killed a Manager and abducted five expatriates’ staff of Dangote group of companies.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Don Awunah, the police said the suspects were arrested by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

It said the suspects, Abubakar Gide, 24; Abdullahi Salihu, 22 and Babuga Adamu, 25, were arrested between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3 in Ogun, Lagos and Kwara, respectively.

Recall that an employee of the company, the Human Resources Manager, Istifanus Bello Gurama, was reportedly kidnapped three weeks ago and was murdered on Monday.

“The suspects confessed to kidnapping and releasing the victims after receiving N5.6 million ransom.

“They also confessed to kidnapping and murdering the ransom transporter, Mr Istifanus Gurama, also of Dangote group.

The Police, however, advised that it is imperative for relations of kidnap victims to always exercise considerable restraint in negotiating and paying the ransom.

“It is absolutely important negotiators of ransom should have confidence in the police,” he said.

Speaking further, Awunah said the police had recovered three AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines and 160 rounds of ammunition from the suspects.

“The suspects further led IRT operatives to Apoje River, where the body of Mr Bello Gurama was recovered.”

He said efforts were ongoing to arrest other gang members who are currently at large.
