Just In! Obalende Boils As Lagos NURTW Rival Groups Clash

Violence hit the streets of Obalende, early Thursday as rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) reportedly shot sporadically during a clash.

The New Diplomat learnt the clash started around 8am on Thursday, increasing panic in the area during the early morning rush as Lagosians commute to their work places.

In videos uploaded on Twitter, heavily armed thugs were seen causing chaos in the area.

The Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reacted to the crisis on its Twitter handle, as uneasy calm later returned to the area.

The unit tweeted, “DPOs and other policemen are on ground addressing the situation. Thank you for contacting NPF-CRU.”
