President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday led Federal Executive Council (FEC) members to observe a minute silence in honour of former Minister of Information and Culture, late Prince Tony Momoh and Alfa Wali, also a former Minister of Agriculture who died recently.

A minute silence was observed before the commencement of the virtual meeting of FEC at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Momoh, an Edo-born veteran journalist and politician died on February 1, 2021.

President Buhari had earlier expressed grief at the passing of Momoh, his longtime ally, media doyen, political loyalist and former Minister.

“His brand of loyalty is very rare in the politics of today. I will greatly miss him,” Buhari said.

Prince Momoh died at the age of 81 on Monday. He reportedly died at a private hospital in Abuja.

More so, President Buhari has mourned the sudden exit of Kano-born elder statesman, and former Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Alfa Wali.

Wali had previously served as Permanent Secretary in many ministries, including the Ministry of Defence.

The President commiserated with the family and urged them to take comfort in the legacy of kindness he left behind.

The virtual meeting was presided over by President Buhari and attended by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

Others who physically attended the meeting include the Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, Industry Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, Education, Adamu Adamu, and Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan and other Ministers also participated in the weekly council meeting from their various offices in Abuja, online.
