Men and officers of Cross River State Special Task Force, Operation Akpakwu have discovered a factory where locally made pistol guns are being produced in Uyanga, in Akampka local government area of the state.

Police investigations revealed that most of the locally made guns in circulation in the southern Senatorial District of the state come from the factory.

The suspect, Mr. Daniel Eyo who produces the weapons is said to be a native of Akwa Ibom state, residing in Uyanga.

According to police findings, the DCO that was killed at the height of ENDSARS protest was killed by the alleged criminals producing the guns.

Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Kayode Akande at the command’s headquarters in Calabar recently told newsmen that eight arrests were made including Daniel Eyo, alleged to be gun manufacturer, improvised explosive maker, cultists, kidnapper and child trafficker.

“It is important to note that modern policing methodology requires complementary role thro citizens participation at all levels irrespective of different beliefs. The command hereby warn all the enemies of peace and person or group of persons unlawfully possessing firearm to willfully return same to the police at all levels as contrary will attract arrest and prosecution if caught,” CP Akande noted.

CP Akande urged members of the public to go about with their good works as the police will continue to tackle crime with good intelligence sharing from members of the public.
