President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the Acting Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made this announcement on Monday.
Shehu said Fikpo was appointed following his nomination by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo.
The statement reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari has formally conveyed to the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, his approval of the nomination of Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the Acting Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment pending the appointment of a substantive Director-General for the Agency.”
Fikpo is expected to be in office until the Federal Government decides on a substantive appointment of the Director-General.
It would be recalled that on December 7, 2020, Buhari relieved Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu, who is the immediate Director-General of the Agency.
