The Federal Government has summoned Hakan Cakil, the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, over the detention of Nigerian students studying in the country.

The Turkish government allegedly ordered the arrest of 50 Nigerians; deported some of them and kept some behind bars, last week.

Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, said the government had asked its Turkish counterpart to free the students on Thursday.
