Nigerian-British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua has joined Nigerian youths on the #EndSARS protest by commending them for their relentless effort in ensuring that police brutality is brought to an end.

The two-time unified heavyweight champion, took to his verified Twitter acount to commend the protesters for being patriotic, adding that he’s praying for his father land.

He tweeted,

Well done to all the Nigerians who have been protesting against SARS – those who made donations to fund organisations lobbying against it – those who have recently been informed & took time to educate themselves.

Those with power to make change.

Praying for Nigeria 🙏🏾🇳🇬

It will be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu on Sunday announced the disbandment of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) across all formations in the country, heeding the call of Nigerians who have continued to protest locally and internationally in support of #EndSARS.

IGP made the announcement at a televised press conference, Sunday.

He said all officers serving in the unit are to be redeployed to other units in the 36 states and the FCT with immediate effect.

Inspite of the pronouncement Nigerians have continued the #EndSARS protest in different parts of the country.

The new trend, #SARSMUSTGO has begin to gain momentum with protesters in various states carrying their placards and raising their voices to ensure there’s an end to extrajudicial killings, intimidation and harassment of citizens, by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
