“President Muhammed Buhari will tomorrow, Tuesday undertake a four-day trip to the United Kingdom. In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor. The Doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do” Shehu said.
Also confirming the report on his social media page, President Muhammed Buhari said: “I will be traveling to the United Kingdom tomorrow, to see my doctor, at his request. Will be away for four days; back in Abuja on Saturday, May 12. The Presidency has issued a statement to this effect. I look forward to my 2-day State Visit to Jigawa State on Monday and Tuesday next week, upon my return” he said.
Shehu said that President Buhari will return on Saturday, May 12th. He added that, the President’s two-day State Visit to Jigawa, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Ward Congresses will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May on his return.
Buhari’s four-day medical trip to the UK will be his fifth to the country that will be made public since he assumed office three years ago.
The last of such visits was when he returned from medical leave on August 19, 2017 after spending 104 days in United Kingdom.
As always, his four-day trip to the UK to see his doctors again is bound to set tongues wagging and raise questions over his ability to run the country especially at a time that he had officially declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019.
