All is set for the 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Akwa lbom State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

In a release by the Chapter Chairman, Elsie Udofia and Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Mr. Joseph Eton, the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is expected to grace the event as the Chief Guest of Honour; his Deputy and Fellow of the lnstitute, Mr. Moses Ekpo MFR as Special Guest of Honour and the President of the Institute, Dr. Rotimi Oladele as guest.

The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, the Chief Host would present a key note address at the event which was slated for Thursday, 22nd June, 2017 at OBA Liaison Hall, opposite Sun Centre, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.

The release disclosed that the event to be held in two segments will feature the fourth Chief O. W. Udoh Annual Memorial Lecture with the theme: “Adopting Public Relations Approaches to Addressing Economic and Security Challenges in Nigeria”, to be followed shortly after by the Annual General Meeting in the first segment.

The second segment will feature Dinner and Award Night in which members of the institute who have contributed significantly to the growth of the body shall be decorated with veteran and meritorious service accolades/awards.

The release further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Don Awunah and Prof. Nkereuwem Udoakah would present papers on sub-themes of the lecture in a session that will be chaired by a Senior lecturer of Mass Communication and a one-time Chief Press Secretary/ SSA  on Media  to the state government, Dr. Udeme Nana.

The dinner night shall be chaired by a former commissioner of agriculture and the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor, administration of the  University of Uyo, Prof. Trenchard lbia.

According to the statement, invitees expected to grace the event include public affairs and information managers, public relations practitioners, protocol officers, traditional rulers, economists, security managers, students of communication studies, members of the Police Public Relations Committees and the entire public.
