There was a fresh attack on Acha village of Miago district of Bassa Local Government Council in Plateau North Senatorial District of Plateau State by suspected Herdsmen which left 20 persons dead and scores of the villagers injured.

The attacks took place in the early hours of Friday morning leading to several people injured and rushed to Enos hospital in the locality for urgent treatment.

The injured were said to have suffered from various degrees of injuries they incurred from the Herdsmen attack.

It was gathered that Fulani Herdsmen for several weeks have been lurking around in the locality alleging that one Herdsman was kidnapped in the vicinity.

Some of the men of the affected locality who spoke to Saturday Independent on condition of anonymity challenged the state Governor Simon Lalong to deploy security agents to the restive community to avoid loss of more lives, blaming the killings on poor security presence in Bassa local government council of the state.

It would be recalled that barely two weeks ago, five persons were gun down in Bokkos local government council of the state due to what security operatives called activities of armed men in the council while in neighboring Barkinladi Local government council area, uneasy calm pervades the area over recent happenings in other councils of Plateau North senatorial district.

Spokesman of Plateau State government, Dan Majang in an interview with Saturday Independent said the state Governor Barr Simon Lalong has gone into dialogue with warring groups and security agencies and they are on top of the situation at Bassa Local government Gouncil in the state.
