Two months after 50 Nigerians were deported from eight European countries for immigration related offences six European countries on Thursday again deported 34 Nigerians for similar offences.

The deportation is coming barely two days after Libya returned 175 Nigerians who were said to have voluntarily left the North African country for illegally entering the country through several channels.

The latest deportees were from Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police at the airport, Joseph Alabi, confirmed the deportation of the country’s citizens.

He said that the deportees arrived in Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, about 6.30a.m.

The breakdown of the deportees, according to him, was 32 males and two females, who came back in a chartered Airblue Panorama aircraft.

Alabi said: “This morning, we received 34 Nigerians who were brought back from Europe. They were made up of 32 males and two females.”

He said all the deportees were alleged to have committed immigration-related offences in their host countries.

Alabi said the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the police.

Also on ground to receive them were officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The deportees were profiled by immigration authorities and were allowed to depart to their various destinations.

In April, 50 Nigerians were deported from eight European countries over immigration and drug related offences.

The countries were Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Hungary and Sweden.
